Frank Wittow  

Founder and artistic director of Atlanta's Academy Theatre, Frank Wittow has directed over 200 productions and performed over 150 roles in Atlanta, as well as in Chicago, Montreal, Philadelphia, and New York.  He has directed the development and premiere productions of most of Barbara Lebow's plays including, in recent years, The Left Hand Singing, Lurleen, The Keepers, A Shayna Maidel, and Tiny Tim is Dead.  He originated roles in A Shayna Maidel and The Keepers.  As well as having an historic commitment to the development of new plays, his Academy Theatre for Youth continues to bring original, issue-oriented plays to schools and communities throughout the U.S.  In recent years the Academy Theatre has conducted teacher training workshops in violence prevention for the Atlanta school system.  This program, as well as the Theatre for Youth's production of Bullies and Bystanders, has received national recognition.  Among Frank's awards are: Atlanta Magazine Award, Atlanta Critics Circle Award, Man of the Year in the Arts, Governor's Award in the Arts, Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Achievement Award, and a Coca Cola Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Arts Leadership.
